

Jolene McCallum, 71, of Homosassa, passed away on Mon., Dec. 16, 2013 at her home under the loving and tender care of her husband and children after a brief illness. A native of Akron, OH she moved to this area in 1987. She was born Jan. 7, 1942 to Michael and Mary (Deckard) Benik. She was married to the love of her life, Grafton T. “Pete” McCallum on Jan. 7, 1961 and they enjoyed over 53 years together.
Surviving are their daughters Kelly Ewers (Mark) of Bellville, OH ; Tracy Branch (Johnny) of Fuquay Varina, NC; Danelle Baker (Greg), Dunnellon; Melissa McCallum (David Ash), Crystal River and their son, Patrick McCallum, Pensacola; grandchildren Taylor, Kyle, Jerry, Jennifer, Brianna, Chris, Maranda, Garrett, Duncan and Kenzie; great grandchildren Emily, Kendall, Hayden, Samantha, Drew, Logan, Shelby and “Sweet Cheeks” Cheznie ; her husband’s brothers and sister and their spouses; and her BFF Judy Carbaugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Michael Benik, her mother-in-law Arlene McCallum and her sister-in-law Sandy McCallum.
Jolene was known for her love of her family and her co-workers. She retired after 18 years of service from the Walgreens in Homosassa where she was the head of the cosmetics department. She was a member of ALANON and will be remembered as a friend to many in AA. She loved crocheting and there have been countless babies swaddled in her blankets, hats and booties. She also loved cooking, taking trips to Biloxi and going on cruises.
There will be a visitation on Thurs., Dec. 19th from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M., and a Celebration of Life by her family and friends on Fri., Dec. 20th at 12:30 at Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa.
