Lloyd Paul “Skip” Liggett 66, of Homosassa, Florida passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 surrounded by his family in Tampa, Florida. A native of Dauphin, Pennsylvania was born on August 31, 1954 to Glenn and Joan (Spangler) Liggett, the youngest of five children. Skip owned every second that this world could give which was evident by his Ed Perkins’ Adventures with Jack Felix and Bernard Fartroff; the rhythm guitarist of Stoney Mountain Rock Band; Bear’s Den annual summer family fishing trip; isshin-ryu karate; flying ultralights and Cessnas. Not only did Skip have his pilot’s license, he was a certified auto mechanic and held a scuba diving certification. Skip passed on his scuba diving passion to his grandchildren who he also instructed. Skip was an accomplished “jack of all trades.” He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on and collecting classic cars, boating, and a cold Bud Light. Above all he loved spending time making memories with friends, family and most importantly his wife.
Skip’s work ethic was unparalleled as was his capacity to do for others. He created a successful family-owned business from scratch in the early nineties until his retirement when he passed it on to his children. Under his direction at Liggett Inc., he was able to work alongside his three children and wife. Skip enjoyed a good laugh and had a contagious sense of humor. Skip was known and loved by many. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sara E (Hartz) Liggett of Homosassa, FL; his three children, Matthew Liggett (wife, Laura) of Pittsboro, NC; Luke Liggett (wife, Janine) of Enola, PA; Megan Fritz (husband, Brian) of Latrobe, PA; his five grandchildren, Jaylyn, Tegwin, Asher, Huxley and Emma (due to arrive in March); his four older siblings, Lewis Liggett (wife, Bonnie) of Lecanto, FL; Lynn Bell (husband, Wayne) of Islamorada, FL; Lisa Famiglietti (husband, Michael) of Andover, MA; Glenn (Huck) Liggett (partner, William) of Palm Springs, CA; and his fifteen nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Foundation or the American Cancer Society in honor of Skip’s life and please drink a cold Bud Light in honor of him.
