

Marjorie Ellen Davis, born May 18, 1940 in Peeksville NY, passed to the Lord on September 24, 2011, at home in Homosassa Florida, family members were at her side. Marge was born the daughter of Douglas and Alice Grant of Croton On The Hudson NY. Marge is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Merton Davis; her brother, Douglas Grant Jr. of Stuart FL; daughter Debra Lang and husband Jonathan Lang, as well as their children Justin and Chloe; daughter Susan Davis Valentine and her son Nicolas Coons Both of her daughters and their families are from Essex Junction, VT. Marge is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Grant and Roger Grant. Marjorie graduated from Croton Harmon High School and went on to nursing school in Valhalla NY. After marrying Merton, they moved to Vermont to begin raising their family.
Marge had many talents and interests; these included playing both the organ and piano and singing in her church choir in Manassas, VA. She also sang and played the organ in her home church in Vermont.
Marge loved the Girl Scouts and served as District Girl Scout Director in both Washington DC and Northern VA. While living in Manassa Virginia, Marge volunteered in the local school as a teacher’s assistant. She enjoyed camping with her family, sewing for her children, teaching crafts, playing music and singing, playing cards, and cruising the world. While entertaining her friends on holidays, her smile, laughter, and sense of humor made her the life of the party. As her children grew up, she worked full time at the University of Vermont where she became manager of the Micro Computer Depot. Upon her retirement in 1993, she and Mert moved to Homosassa where they joined the First United Methodist Church. Marge was very active in the UMW, managing the church thrift store, as well as serving as queen mom in the Red Hat Society.
Throughout her life, Marge was best known as a very caring, loving and compassionate person.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Citrus County, Inc. in Beverly Hills, Fl.
Memorial services to be held at the First United Methodist Church in Homosassa, FL on Fri., Sept. 30, at 11 am with Reverend Mark Whittaker officiating. Condolences may be given at www.wilderfuneral.com
