

Stanley E. “Stan” Fleming, 95, of Homosassa, Florida passed away on June 2, 2023. He was born on July 15, 1927 in Newark, NJ. Stanley, along with his parents, Amzi and Edna (DeLair) Fleming resided in Chester, NJ, where his father owned and operated the Old Mill Tavern, which is still in operation today. Stanley and his wife, Miriam “Mim” (Rothermel) Fleming (who passed away on May 30, 2016), were happily married for 65 years. Stan graduated from Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Europe. Additionally, he attended Seton Hall University, before embarking on a 36-year-long executive career at Montgomery Ward. In May 1987, Stan and Mim relocated to Sugarmill Woods. They were both passionate golfers and active members of the Sugarmill Woods Men’s and Women’s Golf Associations. Stan was also a former member of the Elks and Kiwanis Clubs and regularly attended the First United Methodist Church in Homosassa. Stan will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Mim, at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. He will be dearly remembered by his Rothermel nieces and nephews residing in New Jersey, Ohio, Florida and Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Homosassa, 8831 W. Bradshaw Street, Homosassa, Florida 34448. Military Honors will be rendered on Tues., June. 20, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida with the Florida Army National Guard and Citrus County All Veterans Honor Guard officiating.
