William Robert "Bob" Hornsby, 92, of Fanning Springs, FL passed away at Haven Hospice on Friday, Nov.. 13, 2020. He was born to Mary Arnett and John Wesley Hornsby in 1928 in Brunswick, Georgia, where he was raised. Robert proudly enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945 and following his military service that ended in 1951, he began a career with the U.S. Postal Service in California and continued to retirement in Cocoa, FL. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jean; daughter Sandra Webster and sisters Winifred McMillan and Brenda Joyce Carpenter. Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Sandy; daughters Charlene (Frank) Millis and Arnette (Phil) Getz and son Robert (Becky) Hornsby; as well as four stepchildren and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Wilder Funeral Home, 4890 S. Suncoast Blvd, Homosassa, Florida 34446, where a funeral service of remembrance will take place at 11:30 AM with Rev. Patti Aupperlee officiating. Military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida with the United States Navy and American Legion Post #155 rendering the honors.
