I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since CSM Waiolama passed away. He was my dad’s (CSM Coghill) best Army buddy. They were two peas in a pod.

I had the honor of knowing CSM Waiolama  for over 40 years. I loved how he would always refer to me as his “haole” daughter. I will cherish the memories of CSM Waiolama attending my college graduation ceremony and my wedding. He was a true friend and is sadly missed. Rest In Peace!

I served with CSM Waiolama when he served as the 1SG for Hq Co USASCH.  I had the honor and privilege of being mentored by him, one of the classiest, professional, compassionate men I have ever known.  He treated me like a father would treat his own son.   With his guidance, I was able to carve out a pretty successful military career.  But it all started  with Top Waiolama, and I will be forever grateful.   Prayers to the family.  Your loved one is missed by many. God bless you.

I had the honor of serving under the leadership of Benjamin K Waiolama in 1977 at Ft Shafter. I had the pleasure of visiting him later at Ft Bragg. He was a great person who truly cared for the welfare of others. I am blessed to have known him.

I served under the distinctive leadership of Benjamin K. Waiolama when he was a First Sergeant in 1977 at Ft. Shafter and again in 1984 as the Command Sergeant Major of  the United States Army Support Command  Hawaii (USASCH). I deeply admired his leadership traits and the love he had for his soldiers.
