He was known as Justin to me and many others.

He loved his family and was a good friend.

He always had a free spirit streak in him.

He is finally free to follow his passions.

He will always be in our hearts.

Much love & aloha to Justin’s family, especially his beautiful daughter of whom he was always singing praises of. Every encounter with him was memorable and I’ll always treasure his part in creating the Heidi Hike in Palolo. You are free now, we will miss your unique and captivating spirit, friend. I have memories of Bret from when he hired me in the copy room to working front desk, to knowing we had mutual friends and those many vacations he'd come back fully bearded and stories to share I enjoyed listening to, Bret was quirky others might say differently. My condolences to his Mom Judy it was truly never a dull moment with Bret in office. RIP Bret Aloha wau ia oe

I have many memories of Bret from when he hired me to work in the copy room, to finding we knew mutual people. He had certain ways about him quirky  ways..others might say otherwise gotta say I enjoyed when he'd come back from his travels with awesome costumes n stories. I miss the thought he won't grace downtown Honolulu. RIP Bret Justin Powers.  Aloha no wau ia oe. 

The first time I met Bret, he had just returned from a trip to Africa.  He greeted me wearing Masai attire, from head to toe, which made quite an impression.  He was brilliant, eccentric, and never boring.  Working for him was always an adventure, and he will be missed.


Bret was one of my oldest and dearest friends. A few years ago he told me we only get four or five good friends in our life and I was one of his. I felt the same way. So many memories starting in seventh grade... Going to football games at Honolulu Stadium, making prank calls, Crazy adventures, and lots of skateboarding!  As young adults we were roommates at a couple houses in palolo. I remember his blue and white van and his white German shepherd Keo. 
Bret had a seeking spirit. I will miss him


It is so sad to lose a dear nephew who had so much to offer. He was a handsome, intelligent, life loving man who was troubled by life forces. May he rest in peace and may his beautiful daughter know that she was always loved by him.
