Catherine Diane Bukes

Born in Honolulu to Greek parents, James and Aphrodite Chrones. Catherine was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and attended Dominican college. She married the love of her life, George Bukes and lived in Pittsburg from 1948-1968, before returning home to Hawaii.

She leaves behind two sons and their families: James "Jim" Bukes (Shelley) and Stanley "Butch" Bukes (Janet). Grandchildren: Kristen Amigelo (Joseph) and George Bukes (Andrea).

Great-grandchildren: Chloe Amigelo, Bryar and Camden Bukes, along with many other family and lifelong friends.

She was extremely active in the Ladies Philoptoches Society and was chair of the pastry booth at the Greek festival for many years. She also enjoyed caring for her orchids, playing bridge, exercising at the Kaimuki-Waialae YMCA and especially entertaining family & friends.

This beautiful woman known as Catherine and Tutu will be remembered as someone who embraced life with open arms, cherished every moment and gave generously from her heart. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and all of those who were privileged to know her. As we mourn her passing may we celebrate the legacy of this remarkable woman and the profound impact that she had on all of us.

Catherine was blessed by the loving caregivers who took exceptional care of her along with Navian Hawaii. Orthodox Liturgy will be held at Saint's Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral on November 15.

Visitation 10-10:30 am. Service at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.

Burial will be held at the Kaneohe Veteran's Cemetery where Catherine's final resting place will be with her husband of 64 years.
