Hideko Kanada, 94, passed away in Pearl City on Monday, September 19, 2022. Hideko, was born in Kamakura, Japan on December 18, 1927 to Matsue and Kintaro Sakamoto. She attended Shirayuri High School.
Hideko married Masayuki, had one daughter, and lived in Okinawa. She and her husband eventually moved to Wailuku, Maui where they built a home to retire in. She then moved to O`ahu to be closer to her daughter and family. Hideko lived a full life and enjoyed being a homemaker, singing in her church choir, crafting, and socializing.
Hideko is predeceased by her beloved husband, Masayuki and sisters, Koko Yamamoto and Kazuko Sakamoto. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Kanada; granddaughters Jessica Pelekai (Kuamu) and Rebekah Dalton; great grandsons Jonah and Kuamu Jr., great granddaughter Kikahakaiwaikeao; nephew Kuni Yamamoto, and nieces Tomoko Sakamoto and Mitsuko Nakamura.
Memorial services will be held on Monday October 10, 2022, at Borthwick Mortuary. Visitation at 9:00am, services at 10am. Private scattering of ashes to follow at Maunalua Bay.
