November 12, 1949 – September 14, 2021
James B. McBride ‘Scotty’, age 71 of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
Jim was born November 12, 1949 in Japan where his father was stationed during his military career. He is the second of five children to Col. Benjamin and Janet (Bailey) McBride. Having lived all over the world, Jim finally stayed in Hawaii where he earned a BA degree at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa in Anthropology. He affectionately earned the nickname of Scotty due to the fact that he would sometimes wear a Scottish kilt. He was an avid explorer and always invited friends and family to explore the island of Oahu on “grueling” hikes. He tended to veer off a main hiking trail to explore trails not well marked due to his curiosity to explore something new. He loved to capture scenic sites on video. And could lighten up your day with a dose of good humor. Jim had a wealth of information as proof of his large collection of books. Jim was also kind and willing to help anyone in need. He is survived by his mother, Janet McBride; brothers and their spouses, Doug and Elaine, Stuart and Marlena, Kyle and Kitty; and sister Nancy and John Yoash; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin McBride. We will always miss and remember your guiding spirit. Aloha Braddah.
A celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
