

Leona Alfeche Dela Calzada was 85 years old when she peacefully passed away on the morning of Tuesday, July 7th, 2020 in her Waimanalo home.
Leona was a woman of compassion and love, known for endlessly nurturing everyone who crossed her path. Born on February 20th, 1935, Leona grew up in Cebu, Philippines as the daughter of Concordia M. Ervelle and Domingo C. Alfeche. In 1962, she immigrated to Honolulu, Hawaii with her husband Antonio U. Dela Calzada to start a new life. She retired from The Kamehameha Schools as a custodian. In her spare time, she loved to garden, cook for her loved ones, as well as pray. She was a parishioner of St. George Church, Waimanalo, where she attended mass on a regular basis.
Leona was extremely loving and proud of her four children, Neal Dela Calzada, Ivette Sullivan, Gigi Lunn, and Carina Delong, as well as their spouses, and the numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren they blessed her with. She is survived by all of them, as well as her sisters, Teresita Alfeche and Ignacia Genobaten. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio U. Dela Calzada, her son, Anthony S. Dela Calzada, and her grandson, Frederick (Freddy) R. Delong. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
A visitation for Leona Dela Calzada will be held Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. George Church, 41-1323 Kalanianaʻole Hwy., Waimanalo, Hawaii 96795. A funeral service to follow will occur at 11:30 AM. Burial will proceed at 1:00 PM at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery, 45-425 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744.
There will be no limit during visitation at St. George Church, however, there will be a limit of 60 people during the Mass. Attendees at the burial service at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery are required to wear face mask and practice social distancing.
