Born in Wailuku, Maui, Pearl attended McKinley High School and Kapiolani Community College. She first worked at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard cafeteria before beginning her career as a travel and cruise agent, starting at Pacific International Travel and later continuing with Non-Stop Travel, sharing her love of travel with others throughout her career.
Pearl enjoyed bowling, traveling, and staying active at the YMCA. She will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and deep love for her family. She had a playful spirit, often saying “Oh my” with her signature eye roll—a gesture her loved ones will always cherish.
Pearl courageously lived with Alzheimer’s disease for six years, facing each day with quiet strength.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Kahoaka.
She is survived by her sister, Karen Britos; her sons, David Kahoaka (Rumi) and Jason Kahoaka (Dani), and her beloved grandchildren, Kio, Tao, Maha, and Alyssa Jae.
“Oh my… we will miss you more than words can say.”
