Victoria Quintana was born and raised in ʻŌʻōkala, Hawaiʻi. She attended Laupāhoehoe High School and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She married James Sanborn in April 1953. In spite of having polio in her right arm and hand, she raised six children and became a professional seamstress and pattern maker/grader. Vickie worked as a seamstress from home while her children were young, and then she found satisfying
employment at Jacquelineʻs of Hawaii as a pattern maker/grader for 24 years until her retirement in 1988.
Vickie was a busy and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, first and foremost. Several of her grandchildren lived with her for various years. In the mid-90s, she relocated to California to help her youngest daughter with her new and growing family. Vickie moved back home to Hawaiʻi in 2019.
Victoria is survived by her sister Peggy Echavez (Tommy); her children Debbie Futral (James), Renae Villa (Bop), Kahea Sanborn (Carol), Maiki Paulo (Leroy), Ione Chu (Dean); daughter-in-law Joy Sanborn. She is also loved by 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
We will miss this beautiful woman!
