I still think of Anna often.  Always her smile and voice.  She was a smart and brilliant person but also a simple low attention person.  I remember the archaeology group, all the digging and analyzing  of artifacts on the 500 Hay Street Block, how we watched the Hardee’s on the corner at the base of Haymont go out of business from our tea refills and using the rest room while we worked on the 500 Block.   The beginning of the NC  History museum  on Arsenal.   She knew all the people in Fayetteville who helped make a difference in the work and research  of Fayetteville’s history and genealogy.                             Gone but not forgotten !   I love you❣️🙏

So sorry it has taken me so long to get at this.  I worked, not directly with Anna but as a Supervisor team member.  We would all meet together and talk about things related to our jobs.  Anna was a go getter and did not hesitate to work every faucet of library work.  I, for one, enjoyed Anna and have good memories of her time at the library.  One day, while doing a Out-Reach movie in her first assisted living place, I ran into her as I was departing the elevator, it was just a split minute but she looked as beautiful as ever, not sure if she remembered me, but it was nice to see her then as I remembered her from the library life. 

Anna and I played at the Big Rockfish Presbyterian Church as children; became close through elementary and middle school.  We were closer friends during our high school years as Hope Mills Millers.  We became even more close when we went off to college.  While she was at UNC-G (not called that in our day) and I was at UNC, we often traveled (mostly me and the UNC boys) to UNC-G and no matter the activity, we found time to visit each other over the weekends.  Perhaps it was our small town life having come to the big university, but we seemed more reliant on each other and shared our problems, hopes, and dreams at college.  After college, we were not together as much but she visited me and my family in Atlanta when she could, and I visited her in Hope Mills when I was there.  When we talked, she always shared her many adventures.  I last visited with Anna about eleven years ago.  We had lunch in Hope Mills.  She was the same sweet, kind, interesting, wonderful friend I had known all those years.  Anna is somewhere safe and warm with GOD; probably reading a book.  GOD’s speed my dear and missed friend.

A great friend to all and me.  We enjoyed so many similar interests and volunteer work together; archaeology, genealogy , cemetery research, historical society, The Museum of the Cape Fear, trips to Cameron,NC, our special trip to Hawaii,  flea markets, antiques, mountain  trips and all the talks and good friends that we shared.  She will always live on in my mind and heart until we meet again in heaven.  

Anna is truly missed and responsible for the happy memories of  my childhood! Thoughts and prayers for her family. Love Janice

To the Family...I am so sorry for your loss.  Anna was my First Supervisor at the Hope Mills Public Library when I transferred from HQU Library downtown.  She couldn't have been nicer & after she retired she frequently came back to check out books.  As she enjoyed reading so much.  When she came in she would track those whom she supervised just to see how we were doing.  She was greatly loved by us & missed too.  Prayers for the family. We have known Anna Ray since childhood, My brother knew Anna Ray as classmate and through adult life, even though Ed had not seen Anna Ray in many years he mentioned her to me often, and shared updates he received from Peggy about Anna Ray.  To us over all the years she was "Anna Ray" not Anna, but "Anna Ray".  So here's a good night to "Anna Ray".   Prayers and heartfelt thoughts to Anna Ray's family.

Anna was such a good friend during  our 12 years in school together. She remained a friend as we grew older. I will miss her smile and her love of life and people.  Prayers for family and friends. Peggy
