Eva McNeill Reynolds

Eva McNeill Reynolds, age 106, died July 7th, 2015. Born September 21, 1908 to Estelle and Paul McNeil, she lived most of her life in Cumberland County in the Grays Creek Community. In 1926 Eva married James Lawrence Reynolds, who predeceased her. They were married 62 years. She was also predeceased by: their son, Harold M. Reynolds; brother, Wilson McNeill, and sister, Elizabeth McNeill Woody.

Eva is survived by a daughter, Barbara Reynolds Valentine and husband, Tim of Nashville, NC; five grandchildren: Debra King, and Reece Reynolds of Greensboro, Mark Berry of New Bern, Vaughn Berry-Daniel, and Bryan Berry of Wilson- five great-grandchildren: Ryan Berry, Adam Berry, Miller Berry, Helen Berry and Mary Rome Daniel, one great-great grandson, Mason Berry, one brother, Clifton McNeill and one sister, Carolyn McNeill, and many nieces and nephews. Her great-niece, Kathy Edge Sanders, was her devoted and loving caregiver, making it possible for Eva to remain in her home until her death. Kathy was assisted by Terry Pasrsons.

Eva was the oldest member of Green Springs Baptist Church, where she was active until past 100 years old. As teacher in the Beginner’s Sunday school class, she is remembered by the many children whom she loved and who loved her. With her husband she started the James Lawrence Reynolds tape ministry which continues to this day. Driving until she was 101, she visited nursing homes on Sunday afternoons, taking candy and flowers to shut-ins.

Serving as President of the Hope Mills Senior citizens, she was a vital part of the group, even into her 100’s. In 2008 the town of Hope Mills honored her by naming her Grand Marshall for their Christmas Parade.

Funeral service will be Saturday, July 11th, at 1:00 o’clock in the sanctuary of Green Springs Baptist Church, 1095 East Green Springs Road, Parkton, NC 28371 with burial in the church cemetery.

The family will visit with guests in the fellowship hall following the comittal service.
