

Harvey Edgar Stewart Sr, born on April 13, 1930, passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 95. Known for being hard-working, generous, kind-hearted, and stern, Harvey led a life filled with service and dedication.
Harvey retired as a 1st Sergeant from the United States Army after 23 years of honorable service. He also served as a firefighter and EMT for the Hope Mills Fire Department, Bonnie Doone Fire Department, and Fort Bragg Fire Department. Additionally, he was a Fire Service Instructor. His leadership extended beyond his professional career as he served as Commander of the VFW and American Legion. Harvey was also a dedicated volunteer at the Airborne Museum in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
In his personal life, Harvey was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Margaret Louise Stewart, his second wife Jacqueline Wellman Stewart, his son Steven Curtis Stewart, his granddaughter, Angelic, his grandson, Christopher Emerick, and his son-in-law Karl Hixson. He is survived by his children Sandra Clark and her husband Thomas, Harvey Stewart Jr and his wife Alma, and Jennifer Hixson, as well as nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. He will also be great missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday January 30, 2026 at 9:30 am at Reeves Funeral Home. Inurnment will immediately follow at Lafayette Memorial Park. ***If the weather changes and the family feels it will not be bearable, the service will be postponed. Please check back to make sure the service is still scheduled.***
Harvey loved to travel, with his most recent trip being to the Rocky Mountains. He also had a passion for music and dancing. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
