

Hildret L. Banks was born on February 08, 1949, the daughter of the late Mary Charles and Harry Vinson of Belle Glade, Florida. Hildret departed this life on Thursday, 18 January 2024, at her residence in Parkton, North Carolina, surrounded by her loved ones. Hildret spent her childhood in Belle Glade, Florida, before moving to Glenham, New York, with her mother and siblings.
Hildret was a resident of Beacon, NY, where she met and married George Banks on 13 June 1974. She was a member of Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. She obtained her GED and Real Estate License in 1977. She worked for the New York State Correctional Department at Camp Beacon where she retired. She then moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she then became an Evangelist in 1996. On 26 May 2002 she became Ordained and was licensed to preach the Gospel. Hildret then moved to North Carolina, in 2008. She was a member of New Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a minister of music and often preached. Hildret’s hobbies included singing, playing the organ and piano, and writing and enjoying life. She was famous for her sense of style.
Hildret was predeceased by her husband, George Banks; her parents, Mary and Harry Vinson; her daughter Olivia Herring; her son George Banks; her sisters, Brenda Undly and Mary Ann Williams; and her brother Billy Frank Young. She is survived by her children John Herring, Jason Herring, Tabitha Banks, all of New York, Charles Banks of Vermont, Temple Banks, Hollie Banks, Christopher Banks, and Princeton Banks of North Carolina; her brother, Harry Vinson of New York; as well as her 23 grand and 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
