He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 31, 1943 to Jesse and LaVerne Owens.
Leaving to cherish his memories are wife, Fermina Owens; children, Dennis Owens, Marc Owens, Victor Ugarte, Yexenia Forster, LaVerne Owens Bizzell, and Anna Owens Gordon; eight grandchildren; parents, Jesse Lee Owens, Sr. and LaVerne Owens; and brother, Billy Owens.
The family will received friends from, 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Reeves Funeral Home.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Reeves Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ernest Blizzard officiating. He was laid to rest in Sandhills State Veterans Cemtery with the rendering of full military honors.
