John was born in Woodside NY on May 21, 1947 to Matthew and Katherine Davan. He grew up in Levittown, NY until the military called for his service in 1967. He joined the 82nd Airborne and was stationed at Fort Bragg. Upon finishing his stint in the military, he traveled the United States for a year. He returned to Fayetteville in 1971 and started working at Stereo World as an electronic technician, after 10 years, he began working for the Fayetteville Observer, where he was known in the company as "The MAC Doctor". After 25 years he retired in 2009.
He coached Little League baseball for the West Fayetteville Association for many years and was a Scout Master. He enjoyed cooking and creating new recipes. The kitchen was his playground.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Katherine Davan, his brother Matthew Davan and granddaughter Haley Locklear.
He is survived by his wife Christine (Chris), his sons John Paul Rosa, Brian Davan and daughter Patricia D. Locklear (Jamie). His cherished grandchildren, Maximus Rosa, Trinity Rosa, Tara Covas, Cameran Davan, Easton Davan, Brendan Davan, Ashley Locklear and Aiden Locklear. Brothers and sisters: Michael (Marilyn) of NY, Tom (Ellen) of Connecticut, Mary Davan of NY, Joe (Julie) of NY, Rita Davan of NY, Christopher (Debra) of Hawaii and Kathleen Davan of NY.
A visitation and Vigil will be held from 6 to 9 PM Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Reeves Funeral Home, Hope Mills. A funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Hope Mills NC at 12pm, Thursday June 28, 2018.
