Joyce Cox Barefoot

Ms. Joyce Cox Barefoot, age 85 of Brinkley Rd., Dunn died Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Mrs. Barefoot was born March 21, 1936 in Harnett County the daughter of the late Charlie Allen and Maggie Bell Strickland and is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie “J.T.” Travis Barefoot, Jr. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Warren, Raymond, and Harold Strickland.

Joyce was a retired home daycare owner and operator for over 32 years. Known to all as Mama Joyce. Joyce loved her family, and being that special Nanny to Riley and Ashleigh. She loved the Lord.

Mrs. Barefoot loved the mountains, gardening and her coffee time. She loved her family, flowers and coffee time spent with her daughter always accompanied many smiles and laughter.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist with Rev. Billy Nowell officiating. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens Cemetery.

She is survived by: A Daughter: Belinda Joyce Cox of Dunn, NC.

A Grandson: C.J. Sloan of Dunn, NC.

Great-Grandchildren: Riley Anthony Sloan & Ashleigh Nicole Sloan.

Special Son: Curtis Sloan of Dunn, NC.

Special Granddaughter: Brittany Sloan of Dunn, NC.

Sister: Doris Colville of Dunn, NC; Brother: W.C. Strickland & (wife) Janice of Dunn, NC; Sister-in-law: Carolyn Strickland of Dunn, NC.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 9:30 am – 10:30 pm at Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church, prior to the Funeral.
