Ricky Thornton Sr.

Ricky Glenn Thornton, Sr. of Dunn, NC passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his home, being 63 years of age. He was born February 10, 1954 in Harnett County, North Carolina to the late Lonnie Allen Thornton and the late Vera Jean Johnson Thornton. He is also preceded in death by his brother Issac Allen Thornton. Ricky was the owner of Thornton Flooring for over 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He was a diehard Tarheels fan. Ricky was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Ricky leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters: Vera Jean Thornton and fiancé Robbie Smith of Benson, NC, Hillary Lynn Thornton of Dunn, NC, and Amber Nicole West of Dunn, NC; son: Ricky Glenn Thornton, Jr. of Dunn, NC; sisters: Dorothy Jean Hodgeman and husband Steven of Idaho and Annette T. Coats of Dunn, NC; grandchildren: Kailey Smith, Carley Smith, Cadance Chestnutt, Camreigh Thornton, Kaiden Warren, and Scarlett Grace Odom; girlfriend: Debbie Jackson; nieces and nephews: Rodney Mac Hodgeman, Douglas Scott Hodgeman, Rhonda Jean Stephenson, Sonia Ann Ross, Tracy Elaine Lee, Vicky Heskey and Jennifer Gail Coats and many great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to commemorate the life of Ricky Thornton will be conducted on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church, 1501 Fairground Rd. Dunn, NC 28334, with Rev. Chris Casey officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour at 2:00 P.M, at the church and at other times at the home of Annette Coats, 100 Rollingwoods Drive Dunn, NC 28334.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
