Sara Eason Claytor

Sara was born to Francis and Eunice Eason in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina on May 1,1940.

She went to Franklinton High School and ended up graduating at the age of 16 because she skipped 2 grades. She went on to get two graduate degrees in Master of Arts. Sara's teaching career started in Cumberland County and then she moved to Orange County and taught at Orange High School and Culbreth Jr High School. She also taught evening College at UNC Chapel Hill and during the summer she would teach at a writing camp at Duke for High School students.

After she retired from the school system, Sara started writing poetry. She was very involved with the NC Poetry Society and she even served on its board. Sara is a recipient of numerous poetry prizes and her poetry has appeared in over 100 publications.

Sara leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Miller: a brother, Mike Eason: a grandson Ryan Miller and a granddaughter Amber Miller.
