two daughters, son-in laws and granddaughter in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born and raised in Gratiot, Wisconsin, she was the sixth of ten children. Alice would often say “she was the youngest of five children” and that her younger sister and best friend Violet, was “the oldest of five”. Of her nine siblings, Violet Ryan and David Larson survive.
She married Richard Lund (deceased) and raised their two daughters in Illinois.
Alice is missed by her beloved friend and longtime companion, George Stiehler; her sister and
best friend Violet, her brother David, her daughters Deborah Janowski (Corey) and Carol Cozzi (Rudy);
nine grandchildren; and twenty three great-grandchildren.
An adventurer at heart, Alice enjoyed marking things such as cruises, land sailing, and parasailing
“off her list.” She was originally from Wisconsin, but eventually made her home in California- from
snow to sand.
Alice loved the desert. She had her own dune buggy which she rode often on the
dry river beds of the Santa Rosa Mountains with friends, Marion and Sue. Together the three actively
volunteered for the non-profit “Treasure Trails”. They held many year round events that attracted both
locals and treasure hunters from around the world. The events held the community together, as well as,
provided funding for organizations like the local volunteer fire department and other community needs.
Interment will be July 28 at West Wiota Lutheran Cemetery in Wiota, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the cemetery for the maintenance of
the grounds.
