It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ena Christine Austin Coker "Chris”, 91, who left us peacefully on March 16, 2025, in Hot Springs, AR. Born on October 26, 1933, Chris lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for family and friends.
Chris was married three times, first to Douglas Tapp in a unique ceremony performed mid-flight over Little Rock, AR, where the story is told that her father insisted, they repeat their vows on the ground to ensure their marriage was "legal." She later married Charles Carter and, lastly, Ron Coker Sr., all of whom preceded her in death.
A dedicated worker, Chris spent 20 remarkable years at the Bridgeforth Law Firm before concluding her career with Arnold Grobmeyer Haley, retiring in 1994 to focus on what she cherished most—her family.
An avid reader and passionate Arkansas Razorback fan, Chris's spirit was characterized by her infectious enthusiasm. Her last clearly spoken words were a heartfelt, "Go Hogs!" Family was the absolute joy of her life; she had a special gift for remembering birthdays and anniversaries, ensuring those she loved always felt cherished. Christmas was her favorite holiday, a time she celebrated with warmth and generosity.
Chris was a kind, loving person who never met a stranger. Possessing a natural talent for storytelling, she brought joy and laughter to those around her, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
She is survived by her children, Diana Case (John) and Jan Bryant of Hot Springs, AR, and Ron Coker (Davina) of Benton, AR; grandchildren, Steve Riddle Jr. of Hot Springs, AR, Lee Bryant (Madison) and Jeff Bryant of Kimball, SD, Lynsey Bell (Rusty) of Benton, AR and Landon Turbyfill (Reagan) of Lonsdale, AR; great-grandchildren, Shae Riddle (Miranda) of Las Vegas, NV, Brooklynn Staggs of Kimball, SD, Mia Bell of Benton, AR, Lew Turbyfill, Lonsdale, AR, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will continue to honor her legacy of love and kindness.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Lorena Austin, siblings, Barbara Gracie, and Bill Austin.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held on March 29, 2025, at Linwood Baptist Church, 8932 US-65, Moscow, AR, to begin at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Linwood Baptist Church, PO Box #8, Moscow, AR 71659 or charity of your choice.
Chris will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
