

Grozda Cekarmis made her transition to eternity on Sunday, Feb. 14, 1015 at the age of 90. She was surrounded by her beloved family. She and her husband George Cekarmis celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Wed., Feb. 3. Also present were her son, Dusan Cekarmis (Gordana Jocic), and daughters Susan Schoon (Paul) and Lana Melum (Mike); her grandchildren Dusan Cekarmis II and Tiana Cekarmis with great granddaughters Cheyenne and Sierra Yates. She is also survived by grandsons Djuro and Branko Cekarmis and great grandchildren Mariah and Ducha Cekarmis, as well brothers Mirko, Goiko, Vaso, Nickola and George Krneta and sister Milica Matic. She is preceded in death by her parents Nikola and Sofia Krneta and brother Milan Krneta. Grozda was above all a devoted mother who took great pride in her children and our family. She was a devoted member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Hot Springs. Grozda and George joined a small group of friends and became the founding members of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. She was a fervent fundraiser for the church and worked tirelessly to retain a priest to serve the congregation. She was active in the St. George Sister’s Circle. Above all else, Grozda had a profound faith and love for Jesus Christ. She lived a life of prayer and thanksgiving. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 pm, Tuesday, February 16th, 2016 at Gross Funeral Home. The Pomen will be at 5:00 pm. The Opelo (Serbian Orthodox Funeral Service) will be 10:00 Am, Wednesday, February 17th, 2016 at The Serbian Orthodox Church of St. George with Fr. Aleksandar Vujkovic officiating.
