

James Coy McDaniel Jr. or “Junior” as his family lovingly referred to him, 82, passed away on September 19, 2016. He was born in Clark County on May 31, 1934 to the late James Coy McDaniel Sr. and Veda (Howell) McDaniel.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Adrin (Whitten) McDaniel; sons, Shannon McDaniel and wife Sha and Joel McDaniel and Lisa; grandsons, Landon McDaniel and Jamie Melton; granddaughters, Tristan and Mandy; great grandchildren, Jurnee and Keegan; brother, Garland McDaniel and wife Virginia; sisters, Nettie Thomas, Evan Sanders and husband Don, Gladys Stewart and husband Ed; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Meeting James in heaven are his sisters, Edith Whitten and Essie Childress.
James was a member of Cones Road Missionary Baptist Church and retired after 43 years of working from Coca-Cola Bottling Company in 1996. He was an honorary member of Cedar Tree Hunting Club where he spent many happy days hunting. James was an avid fox hunter and loved hunting with his many friends. He also had a green thumb and a love for growing flowers and gardening. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and his family.
James will always be remembered for making homemade ice cream for the entire family.
Pallbearers are his sons, Shannon and Joel McDaniel; grandsons, Landon McDaniel and Jamie Melton; nephews, Marty and Carl McDaniel.
Honorary pallbearers are his neighbors, church family and hunting buddies.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. William Cole and staff, Dr. Sal Singapuri, Dr. Neeraj Bharany for his dedicated care and Gentiva Hospice for all of their care and compassion.
