Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 14,1949, she was the daughter of James D. Elliott Sr. and Georgia Lee. She became the eldest of six siblings.
Prior to graduating from Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma in 1968, Jamie attended several schools through her childhood. She often reflected on those moves and the many friends she made to her great-nieces and great-nephews. Like her father, Jamie joined the military. She served in the US Marines as an Aviation Operations Specialist from late 1969-1972. Following her time in the military, she went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Business.
Echoing the moves from her childhood, serving in the Marine Corps allowed Jamie to see much of the world, including the opportunities to live in Germany and Japan. She carried that love of exploration throughout her life and loved to travel, in recent years with her boyfriend Butch.
While one might think the word “quirky” carries a negative connotation at times; in this case it does not. Jamie Lee gave life to the word quirky with her unconventional and unique views on life and was most indeed set apart in the most positive way. Do you Know anyone who would get a portrait as their first tattoo at age 68? Unless you knew Jamie, probably not. She was truly one of the gentlest souls this world has ever known. Jamie was an avid reader, and one might say she had her own personal library. She was also quite creative; and if there were ever a hobby, she likely tried it. In true Jamie fashion, she would go all-in in pursuit of her passions. One of her greatest passions was animals. She definitely had a soft spot for her cats, and all of the numerous pets she owned and loved over the years.
Jamie Lee is preceded by her parents, along with her baby sister Janette Lydia, who was born sleeping in 1962. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Janice Kizziar (Bob) of Hinesville, GA, James D Elliott Jr. (Mary) of Donaldson, AR, Janese Turner (Bill) of Hot Springs, AR, and Janene McAlpine (Shawn) of San Antonio, TX. While Jamie never had children of her own, she was the best Aunt Jamie to many nieces and nephews. Jamie Lee is also survived by her boyfriend Butch Artcliff of Seminole, Oklahoma.
