Larry was born June 17, 1946 and raised in Goodland, IN, a small farming town that he and his many friends described as “Mayberry”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Lawrence and Angie Jones.
Larry never met a stranger and especially loved talking with fellow US Veterans. He was proud that he had spent 4 years in the US Navy and was able to visit 37 foreign countries during his service.
While living in New Orleans he met his wife Cindy. They had many happy years there, even after surviving Hurricane Katrina. He found a love of creole and Cajun foods and going by “CreoleLarry” he was proud to learn and share his newfound cooking skills, especially his gumbo.
In 2021 Larry and Cindy retired to Hot Springs where they spent countless hours on Lake Hamilton and enjoyed road trips exploring Arkansas and beyond.
Larry is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cindy, daughter Nicole DePenning, grand-daughter Ella DePenning, son Brandon Jones, and bonus daughter Kelly Aline Stone. Larry is also survived by his brother Gene Jones and his wife Mary. He loved his in-laws and extra family, the Guillois family of France and Madagascar.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 29 at 1pm at Oaklawn United Methodist Church in Hot Springs. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2pm. A graveside service will be 1pm Friday, January 31, at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA.
