

Visitation will be observed on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the First Jerusalem Baptist Church 835 Monnot Rd. Jeanerette, LA 70544, from 8:00 AM until until 1:00 PM, with the Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. beginning at 12 Noon. A Celebration of Life, celebrating the life of Mrs. Barbara Jean Green Martin, will begin at 1:00 PM with Reverend Arthur Lee Alexander officiating the services and Pastor Anthony Rice will serve as the Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Heavenly Rest Cemetery of Jeanerette.
Mrs. Martin was an Educator in the St. Mary Parish School System and after thirty-five years of unparalleled service to the St. Mary Parish School System, she retired to enjoy the fruits of her labor.
Memories of Barbara will forever remain in the hearts of her husband, Carlton Martin of Jeanerette, LA; three sons, Jeffery Martin, Sr. and his wife Carla of Lafayette, LA, Henry Tibbs and his wife Bonnie and Willie Lewis, all of New Iberia, LA; three daughters, Sesalye Martin, Erica Martin and Ianthia M. Joseph and her husband, Keith all of Jeanerette, LA; five grandsons, Jeffery Martin, Jr. and wife, Delilah of Atlanta, GA, Kyle Martin of Washington, DC, Taylor Martin of Lafayette, LA, Marcus Joseph of Jeanerette, LA and Devante Joseph of Grambling, LA; three granddaughters, Raylon Joseph of New Orleans, LA, Kaitlyn Marks of Dallas, TX and Adrian J. Brown and her husband, Paris of Kissimmee , FL; four great-grandchildren, Jaelin Martin, Ethan Martin, Zaccai Starks, and Alivia Joseph; five sisters-law, Effie F. Green of Jeanerette, LA, Bernice Martin, Ollie Johnson and Australia Alexander and her husband, Lonnie all of Missouri City, TX and Mattie Martin of Houston, TX; one brother-in-law, Charles Johnson, Sr. of Missouri City, TX; an aunt, Elizabeth A. Martin of Hempstead, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and the many students that she educated.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Green Sr. and Agnes R. Green; one son, Lyndon Martin; one daughter, Merewyn M. Charles and three brothers, Douglas Green, Alfred Green and Jack Green Jr and his wife Estelle; two-brothers-in-law, Nolan Martin and Nelson Martin and his wife, Ruth.
