Betty Lee Murdock Thorn, a resident of Houston, Tx., and a native of Lafayette, La., died Friday, March 5, 2010 at her residence in Houston, tx. The visitation will be held at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Tx., on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM. A visitation service will also be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ashton, La., from 10:30 AM until the dismissal at 11:00 AM. The interment will be held at the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetary. Betty was survived by her husband, Gerald W. Thorn, a son, Cedric Smith both of Houston, Tx., and a daughter, Shaqueatia Smith of Bluefield, West Virginia. She was also survived by a brother, Anthony Charles Murdock of Four Corners, La.; three sisters, Oretha Murdock of Four Corners, La., Mrs. Horace (Mary Theresa) James of Upper Malboro, Md., and Jessie Marie Murdock of Jeanerette, La.; four grandchildren, her godchildren, special family friends and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
