A public viewing will be conducted from 12:00 p.m. until funeral time at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. James Baptist Church, 6319 S. Bayou Black Drive, Gibson, LA 70356. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Veronica Pride; granddaughters, Lessica Simcox, Colette Hayes and Micela Richardson; six great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie B. Mitchell; grandson, Alexis Richardson, Jr.; parents, Andrew, Sr. and Ella Cross Matthews; brothers, Joseph, Ferdinand, Robert, and Andrew Matthews, Jr.; sisters, Velina M. Johnson and Edith M. Horry; paternal grandparents, George and Francis Taylor Matthews; maternal grandparents, Peyton and Nellie Cross; godchildren, Michael James and Barry Lee Johnson.
