

Dorothy Belle Rodgers Booker, born on December 25, 1943, entered this world as a Christmas blessing and lived a life filled with love, faith, and devotion. She passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at 9:38 a.m., surrounded by the grace and comfort she carried with her throughout her life.
Dorothy was born into the loving care of Fred Douglas Rodgers and Lillie Belle Rasberry Rodgers, who instilled in her the values of family, faith, and resilience. She married West Booker in Evergreen, Alabama, and though their paths later separated, her journey led her to Houma, Louisiana, in 1979- a place she would proudly call home for the rest of her life.
A devoted mother, Dorothy poured her heart into raising her five children: Wesley, Norma, Douglas, Amanda and Tracey. Her love did not stop there-she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing an active and cherished role in their upbringing. Her home was a place of comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love.
Dorothy’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved the Lord deeply and served faithfully as an usher in her home church for many years. Her gentle spirit and warm smile greeted countless worshippers, reflecting her devotion to service and community.
Gifted with many talents, Dorothy was a skilled seamstress, a lover of fishing, a dedicated knitter, a passionate poet, and an avid reader who found joy in the written word. She was also a true southern soul-food cook, known for meals that brought her family together and nourished both body and spirit.
She is preceded in death by her father Fred Douglas Rodgers, her mother Lillie Belle Rodgers, her dad Clarence McCreary (Lola McCreary), her brothers Ernest Rodgers and Booker T Mallor, her sister Dorothy Louise Allen, her aunt Annie Ruth Fair, and her beloved first cousin Linda Fair.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith. Her life touched many, and her memory will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 5pm till 7pm on Friday, April 10th 2026 and from 11am till 1pm Funeral service on Saturday April 11th 2026 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel 230 South Hollywood Road Houma, La 70360
