Helen Harris, 77, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died Friday, April 12, 2013. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Houma and 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at the church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, with burial in Southdown cemetery. She is survived by son, Cavin (Sarah) Lewis; two daughters, Emelda L. Twiggs and Wilma Jean Thomas; four brothers, Earl, Willard, Sam ""Sonny"", and Edward Lewis; two sisters, Doretha (Daniel, Sr.) Nixon and Dorothy (Earl, Jr.) Harding; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Welmon Harris; son, Melvin Lewis; parents, Samuel, Sr. and Helena Sears-Lewis; seven brothers, Robert, Samuel, Jr., Alvin, Joseph, Samuel ""Sambo"" , James, and Ernest Lewis; and her grandparents.
