Joel A. Gier, age 47, a resident of Bayou Vista and a native of Richoc, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Biloxi, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, La., from 9:00 AM until funeral at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Centerville, La. Joel leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Karen Sue Gier of Bayou Vista; his mother, Mary Evans Gier of Richoc; a daughter, Geralyn (Chad) Hawkins of New Orleans, La; four sons, Joel Gier, II and Josiah Gier both of Bayou Vista, Justin Hawkins and Larandon Hawkins both of New Iberia, La; a sister, Mrs. Rex (Priscilla) Luke of Richoc; three brothers, Robert (Melanie) Gier of Lake Charles, Edward Allen, Jr. of Houston, TX., and Johnny ""Blue"" Clark of Baldwin; three grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Joel was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
