

Sadie M. Wilson, age 74, a native and resident of Morgan City, La, died Saturday, November 26th, at Teche Regional Medical Center at 7:01 PM. God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call His good and faithful servant, Sis. Sadie Mae Wilson home to her eternal resting place. Sadie was born on August 13, 1937, to the late Clarence and Nancy Gray. She was baptized and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at New Zorah Baptist Church under the leadership of Richard H. Burdelon. She was a faithful member of New Zorah Baptist Church until illness caused her to miss attending the church that she loved so dearly. She was a member of the New Zorah Church Choir, a member of the Home Mission Ministry and Willing Workers. In life she was blessed in marriage to the late Levi Wilson, to this union three children were born, Richard, Kathleen and Angelette. Visitation will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 at New Zorah Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until funeral at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery. Affectionately known to some as ""Sweet Sadie Mae"" and to others as ""The Lady with the Beautiful Voice"". She was employed by Church's Fried Chicken as a manager for ten plus years and for Teche Regional Hospital for fifteen plus years until she retired. After retiring she enjoyed the presence of her family and friends until she became ill. Even in her illness you would still find Sadie smiling and wanting to help others. Sadie truly indeed lived up to the name of ""Sweet Sadie Mae."" Sadie leaves to cherish her sweet memories; one son, Richard (Annie)Wilson of Spring, TX, two stepsons, Leon Hamilton of Houston, TX., and Robert Thomas of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Kathleen (Carlos) Lombas of Morgan City and Angelette (Terrance) Cross of Lafayette, La., and one stepdaughter, Shelonnie (Louis) Oliver of Rowlett, TX; one brother, Clarence (Janice)Gray of Houston, TX; four sisters, Mildred (Haywood) Dixon of Franklin, La., Barbara Ann Watson and Janet Price both of Morgan City, La., and Hilda (J.C.)Cage of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Ternelle Cross, Terrance Cross, Jr., Richshanda Wilson and Richard Wilson, Jr., and four loving dear friends, Bertha Chenevert, Ruby Hebert, Shirly Parker and Elnore Piggs and a host of relatives and friends. Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Nancy Gray; two sisters, Patricia Douglas and Dorothy Gray; one granddaughter, Shara Jena' Wilson-Marshall, her husband, Levi Wilson and a devoted loving companion of thirty-eight years, James Thomas.
