

Abelardo was born in Laredo, Texas on October 17, 1932 to Salomon and Avelina Lozano. Abelardo attended Martin High School. After high school, he joined the US Air Force in 1950 and spent 4 years in various bases in Texas and Alaska.
After serving his country, Abelardo enrolled at Laredo Junior College in 1954, transferred and proceeded to receive his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 1957 and received his Master’s in History from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas in 1961.
Abelardo returned to Laredo after graduation and started a family. Abelardo moved to El Paso in the early 1970’s and worked for the Texas Employment Commission until he retired in 1990. He spent his retirement years following his passions of reading, fishing, traveling, gold prospecting, coin collecting, working on the family cabin in New Mexico and always making wood works or buying unique gifts or books for his beloved grandchildren, Emma and Alex.
Abelardo was preceded in death by his parents, Salomon Lozano and Avelina Lozano, his sister, Norma Musaliar, his brothers, Rolando Lozano, and Hector Lozano. He is survived by his sister Nellie Rivera, son Alberto David Lozano and his wife Heidi Lozano, former spouse Cristina Ortiz, grandchildren Emma Cristina Lozano and Alexander Jon Lozano and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life service in Laredo will be scheduled later.
