

Al Marlowe is a native of Tuscaloosa, AL. He served with the Alabama Army National Guard after High School from December 1946 until June 1948, then in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War until June 1952. He is engraved on the Tuscaloosa PARA Military Wall of HONOR.
He attended the University of Alabama until he went with Eastern Air Lines as an engineer. He then went to Delta Air Lines in July 1956. Mr. Marlowe is a Delta Pioneer and worked with an all Piston Aircraft Company that converted to an all Jet Aircraft Company. He served in all phases of the airline business and retired August 1, 1985 with over 29 years of professional service.
He attended the University of Houston and received an Associate Degree in Airline Management and Development. Mr. Marlowe is a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Endowed Mason and also an Endowed Shriner, Life member of Arabia Temple, Houston, TX. He is also a life member of the VFW and a Paid Up For Life member of The American Legion.
His service in the U.S. Air Force was Top Clearance with The Air Training Command, The Continental Air Command, and The Air Defense Command. Mr. Marlowe was a Charter Member of the WWII Memorial Commission with Rob Dole as the Chairman. He is known nationally as a Veterans Advocate for veterans and their families. He has performed in numerous high level staff and command positions in The American Legion Department of Texas. He received the National American Legion recognition and was awarded The Pioneer Award for establishing new posts in District 8 and District 22 and is certified as completing The National American Legion Extension College. He served two years as the 8th District Commander of The American Legion and is now serving on the board of directors of The National Cemetery Council of Greater Houston. His present duties in Division 2 is working with Law and Order. His Department Level present duties is serving on the Legislative Council of the American Legion Department of Texas. He served and was 2nd Division Commander of the American Legion Department in 2007 and 2008, and still serves on The National Cemetery Council and is a Life Member of 40 and 8. He holds the present office of serving as the 8th District Judge Advocate and the Post 578 Judge Advocate.
A Visitation will be held in his honor on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. The Celebration of Life service will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. after which he will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
