Alma L. Whelan, born August 29, 1922 to Robert and Tillie Nash in Houston, Texas, passed away November 13, 2014 in Tyler, Texas. Mrs Whelan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell E. Whelan; her parents; brothers Edward “Buck”, Harold ”Buster”, and Marion “Big Boy” Owen; and her sister Ethel R. Gabler. She is survived by her brother Sidney Nash and his daughters Cindy Nash, Janice Baldridge and her husband Mel Baldridge, nephew Robert John Gabler and wife, Patti and their daughters Sara Beth Gabler Thomas and husband Andrew, and Rachel Lynn Gabler; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Whelan retired from Montgomery Wards as a seamstress. She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. Everyone who knew her will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 20 from 5:00 pm to 8 pm and Funeral services will take place on Friday November 21 at 11:00 am. All service will be held at Pat H. Foley Funeral Directors. Interment at Brookside Lauder Memorial Park .
