

Our brother in Christ, Mr. Alvin Deiss, Jr. passed away on October 27, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born January 4, 1936 in Houston, Texas to Alvin Deiss and Opal Stallings. He resided in College Station, Texas at the time of his death.
Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Moore Deiss, his children, Bobby Deiss & wife Donna; David Deiss & wife Christi; Kendra Deiss; and his stepchildren, Valerie Walters & husband Royce, Page Sohl & husband Timothy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emile Wilson & husband Adriel; Ethan Deiss and wife Jessica; Elissa Deiss; step-grandchildren, Blair Derryberry, Ayla Sohl, & Alison Sohl; and his great-grandchildren, Miles, Ivie, and Ryder.
Alvin was preceded in death by his mother and father, his first wife, Jane Deiss, and his step-granddaughter, Morgan Derryberry.
Alvin was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was a graduate of the University of Houston and worked in the energy industry for many years. Alvin was passionate about life and as a young man he enjoyed dancing and socializing with friends. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, making homemade jelly and ice cream, spending time with family and serving the Lord. He loved Country music and hearing the gospel singers at Calvary Baptist Church.
Alvin Deiss, Jr., was also a retired Senior Master Sergeant, serving his country proudly for 34 years in the United States Air Force. He was proud of his German and Texas heritage and never failed to provide loving kindness to everyone in his strong yet gentle way. Alvin will be greatly missed.
A graveside service for Alvin will be held Monday, November 4, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038.
