

Ann (Manak) Brown, passed away on January 25, 2016 at the age of 96. Her birth was on February 4, 1919. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Manak of San Felipe, TX; her son-in-law, Rick Cardenas; sisters, Sister Marcellianus (Mary) Manak, Louise Carter, and Lillian Gantz. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Cardenas; her sister, Alvina Manak; her grandchildren Evan Cardenas, Emily and her husband Harry Potts, and Eliot Cardenas, and great-grandchildren.
She single-handedly raised her daughter and always sought the best for her. She enjoyed cooking and laughing and telling jokes. She moved to Houston in her twenties and worked in retail, banking, and nursing. She was an active parishioner of St. Anne’s Catholic Church for many years. When her daughter married and left home, she returned to the country where she lived for 45 years. She was involved in the community of San Felipe and was a member of the Sealy Lions Club. She volunteered for several organizations, including the Brookwood Community. In her later years, her family enjoyed the stories that she shared and great food she prepared. She passed away peacefully at Houston Hospice with her daughter by her side.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood, Houston, 77081 at 12 o’clock noon on Saturday, January 30, 2016.
Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy, Texas or St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frydek, Texas.
