Annie Marie Searcy went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2018. She passed away peacefully at her home after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Donald Searcy. Marie was born on July 27, 1935 in Lovelady, TX to Archie and Edith Smith who precede her in death. She and her husband Donald were married on July 10, 1954 in Houston, TX. Marie was a Journeyman Printer and served her apprenticeship in 1969 at the Lubbock Avalanche Journal. Later Marie worked at The Houston Post where she was a Proof Reader and Printer in the Composing Room for 27 years. Her hobbies included playing volleyball, and most of all, crocheting. Family and friends cherished her gifts of handmade baby blankets that she made with love. Marie will always be remembered for her quick wit and no-nonsense personality. She had a light that shined bright and a love for her family. She never met a stranger and knew someone everywhere she went.
Marie is also preceded in death by her sister Zelma Williams, she is survived by her daughter, Deborah Searcy and husband Thomas; son, Ricky Searcy and wife Tina; son, Randy Searcy and wife Cathy; Her five grandchildren; Randy Searcy, Jr., Franklin Searcy and wife Lori; Oliva Smith, Amber Muth, Jennifer Searcy and Andrew Searcy, and her five great-grandchildren, Laney Searcy, Sydney Smith, Jacob Smith, Cailey Searcy and Kyla Smith, sisters, Fannie Gilbert and Lenda Robbins, brothers, Archie Smith and Larry Smith. She is also loved by numerous other family and friends. Marie’s husband and family would like to thank Autumn Care Hospice for the extraordinary care and compassion they gave Marie during her transition. Jim and Kris Radcliffe and her caregivers Deborah, Caroline, Naomi, Raymond, and Stella, Thank you for loving her, praying for her, and guiding us.
