He was predeceased by his parents, Andro Fabris and Neda Didolić, and by his daughter, Alejandra Haydèe Fabris. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marta Ester; his son, Andres Oscar, and wife Carrie Davis; and his grandchildren, Lucas Harris and Lillian Grace.
At the age of seven, Antonio and his parents left Croatia via Italy and arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina. An avid learner, he excelled in his studies and graduated in 1965 with a Master’s in Engineering from the National University of Buenos Aires.
While working in Comodoro Rivadavia, Antonio married Marta Ester, and they had two children: Andres and Alejandra. In early 1976, the young family moved to the United States, settling in Houston, Texas, where they have resided for nearly 50 years.
While in Patagonia, Antonio earned his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. He was also a scuba diving enthusiast and avid swimmer, and he developed a passion for sailing from an early age. While living in Houston, he spent most free weekends on his sailboat, Austral, riding the wind on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay.
Antonio was an engineer at heart. He loved to tinker and fix things and was an inventor with a half-dozen patents to his name. He worked tirelessly at Dresser Atlas (later Western Atlas and Baker Hughes) for over 40 years. His example instilled in his children the enduring values of hard work and perseverance.
A private service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson’s Disease Research at the Mayo Clinic would be appreciated.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate healthcare workers at Buckner Parkway Place senior living community in Houston, Texas, who provided years of wonderful care to Antonio.
