Born in Winnsboro, Louisiana, on February 7, 1977, to Bridget Spencer Holmes and Fred Holmes Jr., Antwan was lovingly raised under the nurturing care of his grandmother, Modean Spencer. From a young age, Antwan’s faith was a guiding light—he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at First Zion Baptist Church.
A proud graduate of Winnsboro High School, home of the Fighting Wildcats, Antwan excelled both academically and athletically. It was there he met his high school sweetheart, Nickie Williams, who would become his devoted wife and lifelong partner. Antwan earned a full athletic scholarship to Northeast Louisiana University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
A proud lifetime member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Antwan embodied the fraternity’s values through service, mentorship, and brotherhood. He was a man who never met a stranger—his magnetic personality, warm smile, and genuine spirit made everyone feel seen, safe, and valued.
Antwan and Nickie were united in marriage on June 9, 2001, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love and purpose. Their greatest joy came with the birth of their son, Trey Spencer Holmes, who was the light of Antwan’s life. Antwan and Trey shared a deep and joyful bond, often spending time together in nature—fishing, exploring the mountains, and enjoying outdoor sports. These moments were filled with laughter, connection, and a shared appreciation for the beauty of the world around them.
Antwan’s professional journey was marked by excellence and ambition. He began his career at General Motors in Joliet, Illinois, where his talent and work ethic quickly earned him recognition and advancement. He later joined BP (British Petroleum), where he dedicated over 20 years of service. Starting as a Rail Coordinator, Antwan rose to become the Lead Marketer on the Natural Gas Liquids Team. In 2023, he was elected to the Propane Education & Research Council, a testament to his leadership and respect in the oil and gas industry.
Antwan was preceded in death by his mother, Bridget Spencer Holmes; his maternal grandparents, Gus and Modean Spencer; and his paternal grandparents, Fred Sr. and Annie B. Holmes.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 24 years, Nickie Holmes; his beloved son, Trey Spencer Holmes; his sister, Ciji Holmes; nephews Russell, Avery, and Caleb Johnson; nieces Chloe and Karsyn Johnson, and Nancy Williams. Antwan was also a cherished “Uncle Twan” to many nieces and nephews who adored him as a surrogate father figure.
Antwan’s light will continue to shine through the lives he touched. His legacy is one of love, faith, and excellence—and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
