Lucky was born on the 19th of December 1941, in Athens, Greece, to Maria Christophides and Constantine Sotiriades. The youngest of five siblings, he was predeceased by his wife Anna Sotiriades and brother Nikos Sotiriades. He is survived by his sons Constantine and Panayiotis Sotiriades, daughters-in-law Bethyn Sotiriades and Yvonne Sotiriades, and grandchildren Anna, Ella and Dawson Sotiriades.
In 1969 Lucky moved his family to New York City to attend graduate school at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, New Jersey. Working at Olympic Airways during the day and attending classes at night, Lucky developed a strong work ethic and determination that would serve him well in life. After graduating with an MBA, he began his career as an accountant. When his employer offered him an assignment in Houston, he relocated with his family in 1974. Shortly thereafter, Lucky entered the field of public accounting and in 1978 started his own CPA firm. The practice grew quickly with a high concentration of clients in the medical profession. Lucky was beloved by his clients and developed many personal relationships during his 30-year practice.
Lucky enjoyed watching his favorite soccer team, Panathinaikos, and developed an affinity for the team’s dark green colors, which he proudly displayed on every occasion possible. He also enjoyed going to the casino, where he never met a stranger and his quick wit and gift for storytelling served him well. A skilled backgammon player, Lucky relished a good match, which could last many hours with a worthy opponent.
In life and work, Lucky was an eternal optimist, whatever the situation. He never entertained the idea of defeat and always lived life with an upbeat and positive attitude. As a husband and father, his number one priority was always to provide the best for his family, and he welcomed any opportunity to share his wealth of knowledge with those close to him.
Lucky was a beloved father and grandfather who cherished his family. Through hard work and determination, he developed a successful CPA practice that served his clients and provided for his family for many years.
Lucky’s memory will live on through his two children, their spouses, three grandchildren and all the friends and families whose lives he touched. He will forever be loved and remembered.
We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jerry Estep, and the team of wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Houston Methodist Transplant Center that cared for Lucky over the past 7 years. A special thank you to Lucky’s care giving team of Maria Ruiz and Veronica Ramirez.
The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 26th of March, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Boulevard in Houston.
The burial will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery in Houston.
