

Barbara Ann Wilhite Bennett passed away Tuesday, the 16th of December 2014 in Houston, Texas at the age of 84. Barbara was born in Crowell, Texas the 18th of May 1930 to Homer Osmond and Ora (Honey) Pittillo Wilhite. Barbara graduated from John Tyler High School and Tyler Junior College. The 12th of November 1954, Barbara married Dr. Robert Charles Bennett. She had the opportunity to work alongside Robert for 25 years at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. They enjoyed many years together traveling throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe. Barbara enjoyed sewing, traveling, and collecting. She was passionate about her family, the holidays and sports, especially her Dallas Cowboys.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lois Winger; and her brother, Harold Wilhite. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert; son, Gary Bennett and his wife, Gray of Plano, Texas; son, Kerry Bennett and his wife, Pam of League City, Texas; sister, LaVerne Swan of California; three grandchildren, Alison Bennett, Jennifer Bennett, and Sam Bennett; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from three until five o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 21st of December, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 22nd of December, in the Sanctuary of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road in Houston, where Dr. Tom Pace, Senior Pastor, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Hines Baker room.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions to honor Barbara’s life may be directed to Bennett Arts Endowment Fund at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Rd., Houston, Texas 77027.
