Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Jim Anderson as celebrant. Burial will be at Forest Park Westheimer.
Barbara was born on October 10, 1925 to Chester and Annie (Kasprowicz) Baranowski in Brenham, Texas where she grew up and attended schools. On November 15, 1947, she was united in marriage with Ernest Bugaj. They made their home in Houston. Barbara was a devout and dedicated Catholic. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she was involved in several groups including the Alter Society, the Alter Guild, and leader of the Prayer Group.
Barbara prayed the rosary daily and kept everyone in her prayers. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and sitting outside with her husband in the sunshine. She looked forward to the holidays. Barbara loved to bake and everyone could not wait for her angel food cake with her special homemade pineapple icing and her famous air cookies. She also enjoyed playing straight dominoes and the card game pitch. Barbara enjoyed going out to eat with her husband and friends. She especially liked Whataburger, Chick-Fil-A and Jason’s Deli.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Annie Baranowski; brothers, Leonard and wife Janie and Alphonse Baranowski and wife Billie Hope.
Barbara will be missed by her loving family: husband of 71 years, Ernest Bugaj; nieces and nephews, Janice and Rodney Marek, Steve and Dawn Baranowski and Wayne and Elaine Baranowski; great nieces and nephews, Amanda Baranowski, Shelly and J.D. Davis, Chance and Leslie Marek, Chad Marek, Daniel and Jaime Baranowski, Brett Baranowski, Jake and Tyler Baranowski; great-great nieces and nephews, Shelby Ann Baranowski, Caroline Perez, Charlotte Grace Davis, Vincent Perez, Grady Charles Baranowski and Ryder Davis, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Barbara was truly an angel on earth who everyone loved and cherished.
Special thanks to her special friends, Loretta Kirkpatrick and Melanie Geis whom she loved spending time with.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses at Kindred Hospital for their compassionate care they provided Barbara in the recent months.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Marek, Chance Marek, Chad Marek, Daniel Baranowski, Brett Baranowski and Jake Baranowski.
