Barbara Faye Henley, a Chicago native, was born December 27, 1949 to her parents Jewel and Rufus Henley. She was the 5th child of 5 children. She was a God-fearing woman who dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. After high school graduation, she decided she would like to go into Health Care where she found her passion of helping others. Barbara attended The Bryman School of Nursing.
After beginning her nursing career, Barbara decided that she wanted to further expand her career. She attended Malcom X College, where she studied and began her career as a Respiratory Therapist. Always wanting to expand her knowledge base from there, she attended Worsham Mortuary School of Science and became an embalmer. Still wanting to help and give back, she became a teacher of nursing before becoming a Case Worker for the state of Texas. She enjoyed shopping, reminiscing, listening to music, dancing and joking around with loved ones. She loved plants and animals, especially dogs.
She lived in California for a short time before making Texas her permanent residing place. There, she raised her daughter, Kimberley Henley; her son, Robert Henley; and grandson, Michael Henley, whom she leaves to cherish her memories along with her granddaughters, Jasmine Lewis-Henley and Jordan Lewis-Henley; her in daughter-in-law, Selena Lewis; great-grandchildren, Aniyah Allen and Zhaire Allen; and one sister, Luelma Moon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Rufus Henley; her sisters, Sarah Clifford, Dorothy Ann Henley Mustapha; and brother, Eugene Henley.
Barbara (A.K.A. G) will be remembered for putting her family first- always with love, the love of others, and the strength she had as a fighter. She was a great mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She truly will be missed, never forgotten and loved for infinity.
