

She was a graduate of Webster High School and attended the University of Houston. After an extended career modeling for Neiman-Marcus, she married Ed W. Norwood in 1965, and they resided in Houston.
Barbie was an outstanding athlete, who enjoyed offshore fishing and bird hunting. She was a charter member of the Houston Racquet Club and an accomplished tennis player. Barbie also belonged to River Oaks Country Club and was a prominent member of the Women's Golf Association, having won the Women's Club Championship in 1999. Her golf career included five "hole in ones." She competed in numerous local golf tournaments including The Houston Women's City Amateur and events in Colorado. Barbie enjoyed playing bridge , and was a creative artist in the paint and shell mediums.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Therreheal Brelle Butler of League City; and brothers, Reginald and Ray Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Ed; sister, Jean Wood; numerous nieces and nephews; a special long time companion, Lupita Delgadillo; and her favorite furry friend, Muffy.
Barbie was an extremely kind, gentle lady, elegant yet humble and she will continue to be loved by her many friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock this afternoon until seven o'clock this evening, Friday, the 1st of March, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The family is to gather for a private service of interment at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
Honored to serve as casketbearers during the private Rite of Committal are Ted Reynolds, Doug Bourne, Don Genitempo, Todd Genitempo, Bob Holmes, Don Simichek, Jeff Wood, and Tim Wood. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bill Cheek, Joe Evans, Joel Wood, and Lee Saxman.
