Bartley was born to Charles and Clarice Fox on January 29, 1951 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1969. While attending the University of Texas in Austin Bartley had a motorcycle accident and suffered a brain stem injury. As a result, he lived the life of a tri-pelagic, completely paralyzed except for the use of his right hand.
Many who came in contact with Bartley were touched by his love and caring. He had been held in the hand of the Holy Spirit until it was for his mission to be completed. Special thanks go out to many devoted caregivers, especially Barbara Jean Hernandez and Floyd Guidrey.
Bartley is survived by his mother Clarice Fox Hawkins and her husband William “Daddy Hawk” Hawkins and numerous relatives and friends. Those who wish to attend are cordially invited to a special joyful service to be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
