

She attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women. While attending school she met and soon married a young engineering student, Richard Ayres. At the time of Richard’s death, they had been married for 68 years.
Betty was a lady of many interests and talents. She enjoyed growing her beautiful roses, cooking and entertaining, sewing, playing bridge, and traveling internationally. Betty and he youngest son, Bob had a passion for gemstones. She eventually took courses to become a Registered Gemologist and set up the Ayres Appraisal Lab. Betty was an active member at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where she was recognized as one of the long-standing members of the church.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Richard Ayres; and son Robert Allen Ayres. She is survived by John Richard Ayres and wife Gloria; and daughter in law Linda Ayres. She is also survived by her grandchildren Melinda and husband Michael; John Allen, Christopher, Alyssa and husband Sadanand, and Bethany; and great-grandson, Holden James Byrd.
Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grand-mother.
The funeral service is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 25th of July, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where Rev. Jeff Smith, Pastor at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
The family will gather for a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Betty’s memory may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
